Adult Learners Week
Adult
Learners’ Week
is the UK’s largest annual festival of learning; inspiring
thousands of people each year to discover how learning can change
their lives.
The
Adult Learning Week 18th -24th May 2013, was a lovely opportunity to work
with my local community. The Art Workshop was run in the beautiful
and inspiring church of St Margarets, Stoke Golding, Warwickshire. It
had a friendly and encouraging atmosphere, which I feel was enhanced
by the Bell Ringing Workshop which was being held at the same time.
People were able to chat and socialise between both groups and the
Church was buzzing with creativity both though the drawings being
produced and the sound of the bells being rung.
This session was a taster for those wanting to explore their interest in art, it was aimed at both the more experienced artist and those simply wanting to have a go. The main objective was to produce work which was fun to do and satisfying to the individual.
We worked from the still life shown below, exploring a technique that emerges from dark to light, using charcoal, white chalk pastel and erasers
Here are some of the lovely drawings produced by the group on the evening. Hope you enjoy seeing them as much as we enjoyed producing them.
And these are some of the comments from those who attended the Class.
"excellent tutor, good exercises, more please"
"Jan, who led the class made us all feel confident and we all produced a great picture."
"Really enjoyable, I haven't used charcoal since I was 8! Just would like to do more."
"good intro to drawing & charcoal techniques"
For anyone that is interested in doing a course in Creative Fine Art, I will be running one on Monday evenings at Dadlington Hall, starting in Sept 2013. I will keep you posted with more details. So watch this space!
